Second Suspect Arrested in La Caverne Murder of Selven Iyempermal

Mauritius police have arrested a second suspect in connection with the murder of Selven Iyempermal, following an investigation by the Major Crime Investigation Team, known as the MCIT. The arrest took place on 5 November, according to Le Defi Media.

The MCIT is a specialist unit within the Mauritius Police Force tasked with investigating serious and complex crimes, including homicides. The La Caverne area falls within the town of Vacoas, in the central highlands of Mauritius.

The first suspect in the case, identified as Imtiyaz Khan Ahmad Chady, had been taken into custody on 30 October. The second arrest follows just days later as investigators continue to piece together the circumstances of the killing.

According to police, six masked men armed with sharp objects were involved in the incident. The involvement of multiple individuals with weapons points to a coordinated attack, though the full details of the case and the motive behind the murder have not yet been made public.

The MCIT is continuing its investigation, and further arrests have not been ruled out given the number of individuals reportedly involved.

This case has drawn attention in Mauritius given the apparent premeditated nature of the attack and the number of suspects being sought. Authorities have not released further details about the victim or the relationship between those involved.
