MauritiusNews.com (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and your rights under applicable data protection law.
Data We Collect
We collect the following types of data:
- Analytics data: Anonymised page views, device type, browser, referral source and category preferences via Google Analytics (GA4). No personally identifiable information is retained.
- Newsletter subscribers: If you subscribe to our daily briefing, we store your name (optional) and email address. We use Resend to send emails. You may unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.
- Story tip submissions: If you submit a news tip, we store only the information you voluntarily provide. Tips are reviewed by our editorial team and then deleted after 60 days.
- Job enquiries: If you post a job listing or respond to one, contact details are used solely for the purpose of that listing.
Cookies
We use the following cookies on MauritiusNews.com:
- Google Analytics: Tracks anonymised usage patterns to help us improve content. You may opt out via our cookie consent banner or by installing Google Analytics Opt-out browser add-on.
- Google AdSense: Places advertising cookies to serve relevant advertisements. You can manage these via Google's ad settings.
- Disqus: Comment functionality on articles may set cookies. Disqus has its own privacy policy.

- Anthropic Claude — AI article rewriting (no personal data sent)
Data Retention
Newsletter subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe. Story tip data is deleted after 60 days. Analytics data is retained for 14 months in Google Analytics before automatic deletion.
Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@mauritius-news.com. We will respond within 30 days.
