Man Beaten with Metal Bars by Four Attackers in Rose-Hill

A 31-year-old man was left hospitalised after a violent assault in Rose-Hill yesterday afternoon, when four individuals, including a woman, attacked him with metal bars in the Stanley neighbourhood.

The victim was walking along Avenue Nabee when the group set upon him, striking him repeatedly on the head and neck with the metal bars. He was transported to Victoria Hospital in Candos, the main public hospital serving the central region of Mauritius, where he is currently under medical observation.

Rose-Hill is one of Mauritius's largest towns, located in the Plaines Wilhems district in the centre of the island. The Stanley area sits within that urban zone. Avenue Nabee is a residential street in that part of the town.

Victoria Hospital, commonly known as Candos hospital after the area in which it stands, is a major public referral facility that handles trauma and emergency cases from across central Mauritius.

Details about the circumstances leading up to the attack, the identities of the assailants, and whether any arrests have been made had not been confirmed at the time of publication. It is not yet known whether the assault was targeted or random.

The involvement of multiple attackers, including a female assailant, and the use of metal bars as weapons make this a particularly serious incident.
